Distance healing is a form of healing energy "sent" across time and space that is received and has a healing effect on the recipient. With this type of work, you do not have to be physically present with the healer to receive the healing. It may be done over the phone or at a special time set aside and agreed upon between you and the practitioner.

This type of healing is equally effective as an in person healing because in alternative energy healing and holistic medicine therapies, we are working with the physical, emotional and mental aspects of an individual by accessing the individual’s energy body. The energy body can be accessed easily from anywhere and at any time and does not require you to be physically present with the practitioner.

Time and Space

The archetypal perception that most of us live in in this physical reality is one that is conditional and dual. What does that mean exactly? Well, for most of us, our experience of this physical reality is governed by the perceptions that time and space are real and fixed. We live inside of time and space meaning that our perceptions are locked into this paradigm that things are not only separated by distance, but that time only moves in one direction-forward.

This perception, particularly the perception of time, is one of the things that keeps us firmly rooted in the physical world and yet at the same time may also limit our ability to manifest change and experience instant healing.

Scientific Underpinnings

Quantum physics has revealed that time is not fixed, nor is it linear, only flowing in one direction. Time is fluid and flows both forwards and backwards simultaneously. Your future can thus affect you as much as your past. Your past can be altered as much as your future. From this perspective everything is happening at once, there is no past and no future, only the present moment.

How Distance Healing Works

Reiki practitioners learn and receive three symbols, one of which is the "distance symbol." When invoked and used by a Reiki practitioner, this symbol allows the practitioner to send healing Reiki energy across time and space.

This symbol can also be used in-person to help clear blockages from the past, or across large parts of the body. Similarly, it can be used to cleanse neighborhoods or geographic places. When practicing Reiki on someone who is not physically present, this symbol is used to connect to his or her energy.
